About Greg Bobrowski

I build worlds.

My main body of work is Komplex — a long-term worldbuilding project exploring procedural oppression, surveillance, systemic control and the fragile interior life of individuals inside vast structures.

Komplex is not a metaphor for a single political system nor a prediction of the future. It is a closed universe ruled by The Tower — a silent, observing presence at the center of a concrete panopticon. Within its walls, citizens live, work, disappear, comply, resist, glitch and hope.

Through painting, drawing and written fragments, I construct the visual and symbolic language of this world:
empty suits suspended in air, cracked concrete, mechanical overseers, propaganda relics, silent agents, quiet acts of rebellion, and small, stubborn signs of life breaking through grey mass.

I am interested in scale — in systems that feel eternal — and in the smallest human gesture that disrupts them.

My practice began with drawing knights from books about the Templars during long solitary childhood hours. Later I turned to photography, seeking liminal and abandoned spaces, before returning to drawing and painting as my primary tools for building fictional realities.

I started professional illustration in 2014, contributing to a Polish WWII tabletop title. Since then I have collaborated with publishers including Wizards of the Coast (Magic: The Gathering), Fantasy Flight Games (Arkham Horror, Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, A Game of Thrones), and Alderac Entertainment Group (Doomtown: Reloaded, Thunderstone Quest).

While I continue selected freelance collaborations, Komplex remains the core of my artistic research and narrative exploration.

My process begins traditionally — sketches and final line work on paper — followed by either digital color in Photoshop or oil on panel and paper. Returning to drawing and oil painting allowed me to slow down and give weight to material, texture and imperfection — elements essential to the world I am building.

Outside the studio, I spend time with my three dogs, play tabletop RPGs and Magic, cook, and recently discovered woodworking — another way of shaping material into structure.
